To assist Montana's historic preservation commissioners, the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) has developed this 4-hour online preservation training program. Included within are the basics, benefits, requirements, and eligible activities of the Certified Local Government program, how the SHPO can provide community preservation assistance, an overview of our national preservation history, preservation design standards and when they apply, various commission projects across the state, and a few preservation issues. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the CLG Coordinator at SHPO, 406-444-7715.
